The complex with headquarters of the Czech National Bank consists of two buildings – the historic listed Roith Building and the building of the former Plodinová burza (Agricultural Products Exchange). The aim of the reconstruction project was to join the two adjoining buildings into a one functional whole. The CNB complex is situated in the Prague area designated a World Heritage Site by UNESCO. Both the buildings are also on the list of protected heritage buildings and conservation areas in the Czech Republic. Roith Building, which bears the name of its original architect František Roith, has been used as a bank ever since its completion. On the basement of the building there is a historic safe deposit room which is now a bank museum as well as the present new safe deposit rooms of the CNB. On the above ground levels of buildings there are, apart from the exceptions, the administration and offices of this Czech central banking institution. The ground floor of the Roith Building is divided into two sections by a passage lined with retail units which is accessible to the public. The building is connected with adjoining building of the former Plodinová burza. The building also houses the offices of the governor of the CNB and the members of the CNB Bank Council and their advisors. A special attention was given to the interior design of the rooms which will be used for the meetings of the CNB Bank Council.
