The aim of the Hermitage Project was to revitalise the town block situated in the historic urban fabric of Prague 2 - Výtoň. The former industrial complex of printing-houses was first built at the end of 19th century and completed in the 1930s.The client’s brief was to turn the former industrial complex into a residential complex, i.e. a residential building and a hotel. The oldest part of the complex was therefore transformed into a three-star hotel with the underground car-park and building services areas while the later section was turned into a residential building. The town block that for many years was an eyesore has now came to life and again became an organic part of this historic district of Prague. In the project preparatory and implementation stages out designers and specialists worked closely with the state heritage authorities to ensure that the authentic character of the historic industrial architecture remained unchanged. As a result, our work helped to restore the former attractiveness of the former Podskalí District and to remain a valuable part of the capital city centre.
