The hospital grounds in Jičín form an integral complex, the majority of which was built between WWI and WWII (1923-1930). The grounds have a clearly defined zone of hospital pavilions and a commercial zone. Lush landscaped greenery is concentrated in the central part of the hospital grounds. This is the site of the reconstruction of a building in around 1975. It was designed with four floors, with a prefab, iron-concrete skeleton (the last floor receded back to just part of the entire ground plan). Ceramic panels and horizontal strip windows jacketed the building. The elevator only went up to floors 2 and 3 (3 stations). Pavilion reconstruction occurred in 2 stages – stage 1 was implemented in 1996. Most of the lay-out modifications were performed on the 2nd floor. The 2nd stage of reconstruction generally altered the entire building, and aside from lay-out modifications, completion of the 4th floor over the complete ground plan was implemented, the building’s flat roof was modified into a more-or-less classic roof design in terms of shape, supported by a wooden load-bearing structure. The newly formed attic space is also utilized, and the reconstructed elevator goes up to the 4th floor.
