Pavilion G is the second stage of the construction of the complex of surgical sciences buildings that on its completion will become a new centre of the hospital. The complex has basically a character of a multi-block building consisting of several pavilions but with the advantages of a single building and visually defines the south-west part of the hospital complex. It also provides an end to the auxiliary compositional axis which starts in the attractive central park with a stone sculpture in its centre. Pavilion G is a new building constructed on the base of the building from the beginning of the 20th century and closely reflects the original architectural concept of this previous building. The rectangular arrangement of the complex is made more dynamic by the massing of its various sections rising from the emergency admission unit on the ground floor to two-storey connecting wing and three- and four storey pavilions and terminating in a five-storey vertical transport shaft. The basic element of the internal traffic arrangement in the complex provides a diagonal traffic link running between the vertical transport shaft on the three levels (on the basement and the two above ground levels) in Pavilions H, CH and G. The patients and visitors arrive at one end of this traffic link while on the other side there is an entrance to the services and administration zone. A separate entrance was designed for the patients brought to the emergency admission unit by ambulances. Extending the traffic corridor also provided a space for a hall (a social centre) which is used by patients as resting area, for conversation, accepting the visitors and so on. There is also a store selling refreshments, newspapers, magazines, sanitary and cosmetic products.
