The construction of the Surgical Sciences Pavilion was the first stage in the radical modernisation of the complex after many years of neglect and stagnation. The pavilion is a significant contribution to the urban fabric of the wider centre of Jičín, facing and visually complementing the first part of the facade of the Československé armády Street. The wing oriented towards the centre of the complex provides a boundary of a calm courtyard that opens up in east direction towards Bolzanova Street. The two perpendicular wings (Buildings H and CH), which have four storeys and one basement level, are joined together by a five-storey tower like vertical shaft. On the four floor levels in the wing oriented towards the centre of the complex there are hospital wards and the other wing houses the complementary sections of hospital including operating theatres, the intensive care unit and the maternity ward. On the ground floor of this wing the oriented towards the centre of the complex there are hospital wards and the other wing houses the complementary sections of hospital including operating theatres, the intensive care unit and the maternity ward..
