The construction of the pavilion with operating theatres was the first stage of the project to revitalise the hospital complex. The building is attached to the surgical sciences pavilion creating is new wing with the high-capacity vertical transport shaft and the new main unrestricted entrance. The arched front facade of the building facing the river was inspired by the shape of river meander. Incorporation of the building in the surroundings was assisted by retaining mature trees on the site while the external envelope from face red bricks divided by the white strips of ceiling rings further underlines the building's harmonious incorporation in the natural environment. Ashlar facing is used for the walls inside the entrance hall and the halls on upper floors. The building houses three operating theatres. The theatres, which are lit by large composite windows, have poured solid floors and were painted using paints with bactericidal additives. In the main entrance there is an access for ambulances while a separate entrance is provided for the servicing staff.
