The new Central Emergency Pavilion at Nemocnice Pardubice consolidates acute care services under one roof, while adding a key technical and transport feature – a rooftop heliport. The eight-storey building functions as a compact medical hub. Obermeyer Helika was responsible for several structural elements, including the entrance portal with integrated information panels, the technical mezzanine, a façade wall, and the ambulance canopy.
The heliport itself, designed to accommodate helicopters weighing up to 3.8 tons, is supported by an eight-column steel truss structure. Access to the landing platform is provided by two ramps, while the platform itself is a 26-metre square reinforced-concrete slab.
KEY FACTS
Obermeyer Helika brings extensive expertise in heliport design, having delivered landing facilities for medical helicopters in Prague, Pilsen, Brno, and Ruzinov (Slovakia). The company’s first heliport was built for the Surgery Pavilion at the Central Military Hospital in Prague–Stresovice, designed to handle helicopters of up to 12 tons. Another landmark project was the heliport at the Children’s Wing of Nemocnie Motol, which won the Rector’s Award from the Czech Technical University in 2010 in the category of Czech Transport Construction, Project and Innovation. The Motol project also marked an important collaboration with Metrostav a.s.
