OBERMEYER HELIKA CELEBRATES 35 YEARS OF INNOVATION AND DESIGN EXCELLENCE

Publication 7. 10. 2025

Prague, October 2025 – One of the Czech Republic’s leading design and construction consultancy firms, OBERMEYER Helika, is celebrating 35 years on the market. Since its establishment in 1990, the company has been behind hundreds of major projects in the Czech Republic and abroad – from hospital complexes and multifunctional arenas to residential and commercial developments, bridges, highways, and industrial facilities.

As a proud member of the international OBERMEYER Group, and with strong teams in Prague, Brno, and Bratislava, Obermeyer Helika brings together top architects, engineers, and experts from a wide range of fields – including scientists, artists, historians, and medical professionals. In 2026, the company plans to relocate its Prague headquarters to the emerging Pragovka Art District, a vibrant centre of culture and innovation.

Designing with Purpose
“Designing healthcare facilities, for example, is not just a technical challenge but also a human responsibility. For our team, it is always a great honour – because from the very beginning, you feel that your work aligns with the purpose of your profession and serves the needs of society. You help create spaces that are truly meant to support people,” says Jiří Fousek, CEO of Obermeyer Helika.

Among the firm’s recent achievements is the Family Care Pavilion of Pelhřimov Hospital, recognised with the Building of the Year 2023 award for its outstanding technical and architectural quality.

Embracing the Digital Future
Obermeyer Helika’s TECH & BIM division focuses on advanced digital modelling and coordination for technologically complex projects, including ongoing collaborations with Škoda Auto, such as the design of conveyor bridges and a new car body storage facility in Mladá Boleslav.

“We work with 3D models, point clouds, virtual and augmented reality, digital visualisations during construction, visual programming, and increasingly with AI-based tools. Contemporary design has become a highly complex discipline where both technologies and their applications are constantly evolving,” explains Jan Korbut, Head of the Building Structures Division.

Moving to Pragovka
Growth is not only external but also internal. Next year, the company will move into new offices at E Factory in the Pragovka Art District in Prague’s Vysočany neighbourhood. The site’s industrial heritage dates back to the early 20th century, when it housed the famous Praga automobile factory.

“The 35th anniversary of our company is both a reason for pride and a commitment to the future. Moving to Pragovka is an important step for us – a sign of dynamic development and an invitation to new talent, to people who want to grow professionally and creatively together with us,” adds Jiří Fousek.

35 Years of OBERMEYER HELIKA

Renowned for delivering innovative and comprehensive design solutions, OBERMEYER Helika has contributed to many landmark projects across sectors. In the late 1990s, it participated in the reconstruction of the historic Grain Exchange building at the Czech National Bank complex in Prague. After 2000, the firm designed the iconic roof structure of the Sazka Arena (today’s O2 Arena).

More recently, the company completed its work on the Arena Brno and is currently involved in several major developments, including the structural design for the Westfield Černý Most extension, general design of the high-rise mixed-use Prospect Zlín, and detailed project documentation for the Galerie Pernerka retail centre in Pardubice.

In the healthcare sector, flagship projects include the Proton Therapy Center at Bulovka University Hospital and the Medicentrum complex in Prague’s Waltrovka district.

Since 2004, OBERMEYER Helika has been also based in Bratislava, Slovakia, where its first major project was the Bory Mall shopping centre. The Slovak branch is currently participating in the reconstruction and expansion of the University Hospital in Banská Bystrica, as well as major urban projects in Bratislava – including the revitalisation of the Dunaj Department Store and the construction of the Metropolis residential towers.
